James A. Loeffler

CPA, CFE, CCSSBB (ASQ)

Jim brings a deep and broad range of experience and expertise to help clients address challenges and capitalize on opportunities. After earning his Bachelor of Science in both Accounting and Finance from John Carroll University in 1991, Jim passed the uniform CPA exam during his tenure as an auditor with Ernst & Young LLP. There he developed expertise in the financial services, manufacturing and healthcare industries, implemented new accounting standards (SFAS 115), and managed multi-location audit teams. He received a full-tuition scholarship from the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned his MBA with a concentration in Finance.

As a financial analyst for Campbell Soup Company, Jim designed, developed and implemented financial reporting structures for the U.S. Sales Company. He expanded his financial institutions experience as a solution specialist with MBNA America. It was here that he designed, developed and implemented web-based reports for the CFO and other executives.

Jim co-founded InTune Business Advisors LLC with the mission of giving clients more control through three services: Business Transactions; Fraud and Compliance; and Process Improvement. As a CPA, Jim has created comprehensive valuation models and other analyses to address complex corporate finance issues, performed due diligence and led companies out of financial crises. By working closely with CEOs and boards, he has raised capital, ensured the proper business structure of sales and marketing agreements and designed, developed and implemented incentive stock option plans and other key components of compensation structures.

As a CFE, Jim helped lead a $500M medical device manufacturer through its first year of Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 compliance, and InTune was the only outside firm retained in this capacity in subsequent years. As a fraud expert, he has addressed diverse audiences on several topics, including financial institution fraud detection and investigation, fraud and forensic accounting in a turnaround context and the financial expert’s perspective in insurance investigations.

As an ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt, Jim has led process improvement projects which have resulted in significant client savings. Jim has leveraged his application development (Visual Basic, SQL) expertise to commercialize one such solution as LegalEyeTM, which is now available to help corporate law departments reduce and control legal costs.

Jim is an active member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the American Society for Quality, and the Council on Litigation Management's Strategic Affiliations Committee.

Jim also serves on the Board of Directors of North Hills Community Outreach, an interfaith volunteer organization that helps people in crisis, hardship and poverty in all of Northern Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He also serves on the Event Committee for HEARTH, whose mission is to create a continuum of care that empowers families to become independent, self-sufficient and adequately housed. He enjoys golf, tennis, platform tennis and playing music.
